Tested by Fire(Introduction)

Tested by fire(introduction)

Fire connotes many things e.g. light, heat, flame, passion, destruction, inspiration etc. Fire, is a handy tool at home for cooking.

Blacksmiths are a group of persons who possess a more thorough understanding of fire. This can be seen in how they make use of fire to purify metals such as iron and gold. They have come to the knowledge that fire, does not always destroy: sometimes it brings forth beauty and perfection.

In this series we will be looking at fire as a testing or measuring tool and our anchor verses are; 1Corinthians 3:11-16

“For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work. If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flames.”

Through this series we will be able to understand that our only foundation is “Jesus Christ”. We are not starting any other ministry outside that which Christ has fashioned. We are only left with the option of how we intend to build on the already laid down foundation.

This series will caution our commitment as to whether we are doing it for our own gain or to build on the laid foundation.

This series is aimed at exposing us to what quality work is and to also help us escape suffering from losses on the last day.

Thank you, I believe we will go through the whole series together, God bless you as you do.

‘The place of the deep’

That place were oratory fails,
groaning and utterances prevails.

Love so boundless,
of the next person I am clueless.

This relationship is endless,
Ahhhhh! ahhhhhh!

Singing the song of the spirits
and dancing to the rhythm of angels.

The place of the deep;
such a connection.

A date with the immortal;
drinking not from cups but portals.

Oh! fountain of living waters,
in your presence nothing else matters.

Not to talk about the tables scattered,
you made a ridicule of time.

In your word I saw my agenda- lame,
my filth I saw bare.

And with your grace I didn’t care:
should we talk about the consuming fire or the refiner’s fire?

Condensing my short comings,
your glory I saw.

The aura of your presence overwhelming,
I couldn’t but fall in love every single moment.

This was supposed to be my waiting;
but I found myself loving.

Such beauty!
Perfect bliss.

“We have become so used to seeing the end result of people winning materialistically that we have no idea that winning spiritually precedes it”- Anonymous.

How are you really doing? Sometimes the load can be overbearing and with seemingly little result. It is okay to feel that way. we cannot choose how we feel but it is in our power to act however we want. Your feelings are not your choice but your thought and behaviors are.

Stay consistent and in due time things will fall in place.

Today we are going to consider true success, this is one of the concepts that have been wrongly interpreted, It has been given an egoistic interpretation, We are all caught in the web of wealth creation, We are seeking for ways each day to make our lives better.

We have interpreted success to getting good grades in schools and colleges, passing an exam, ascending the corporate ladder, making more money or fame etc.

I am going to work hard, get that job, promotion, car, first class, fame, get value for my services and spend without budgeting. I mean, we all want good things. This is coolly efficient but beyond that, success is more. The larger part of our time, our consciousness and thoughts are pressing towards success, we all want to be successful; we all want to win.

Our definition of success is handicapped, no wonder we keep beating ourselves without the peace and feeling of achievement and we console ourselves that we just need to do more, achieve more, put extra effort. That we need more promotions, more money, better grades or qualifications. Our steely determination for endorsement is received with mix admiration.

Sometimes when these efforts are invested without yielding result, we run to our safety nets while prying into the lives of others with dissatisfaction. The good news in the bad news is that these safety nets will not hold up anymore if you do not get the right definition of success and winning.

You can only define wining and success in the context of your assignment; A story was told of a King who hired laborers to work on his vine yard at different times but all received equal pay. Everyone has his/her own success story. You cannot act some one’s script, struggling each day to level up with no sense of satisfaction.

The greatest way to measure success is in service; Service to God and to humanity, everyday serve someone; Live an intentional live of doing to someone what they cannot do for themselves, honestly we all can be great because we all can serve. In the words of Mahatma Ghandi, “the best way to find yourself is lose yourself in the service of others.” When we personalize success, we miss opportunities to lift others.

In our quest for success; as we climb that ladder let us be sure that the ladder is placed in the right position, imagine you have climbed that ladder and gone far up only to realize that the ladder was not placed in the right position. You will have to take the 360 turn, It doesn’t matter how high or fast you climb the ladder if it is leaning on the wrong wall.

I quote the words of Archimedes “give me a place to stand and I can change the world.” You cannot properly measure success if you are not first in the right place. Understanding your assignment saves you a lot.

Success is in problem solving. What problem are you solving? The ingredients of success at the highest level are our talents, gifts and passions. We can only win when we harness these gifts and talents to meet needs, solve problems, and add value to people.

The goal is to die empty; to run a race not with any man but ones’ self, To finish well and to finish strong.

Ultimately, Success is not a destination it is a journey. Success is a story. It is determined by your daily routines. our decisions and we how we make them. Each day we either make or mar, we either repair or prepare. It is by the steely effort we make each day to improve our lives and the lives of others, it is by the efforts we make to draw men to light, to truly connect to others. By the smile you share to lift cheer someone up and little jokes to save the day. The little acts of kindness and expressions of love.

Tool or Medal

Anchor Scripture: And behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be [Revelation 22:12].

The series “tool or medal” had three objectives: to enable us distinguish between a tool and a medal, to teach us how to appropriately use tools in ministry, and to equip us with the means to work towards obtaining medals.

It has been revealed through this series that; a tool is an instrument/device which enhances the achievement of a task with less effort. On the other hand, a medal is a reward of an exceptional work done. As established, there are certain tools (gift, God’s word, time, mind, stewardship and beauty.) God has entrusted into our care for doing good works. Putting those tools into work position us for medals (revelation knowledge, change of name, leadership position, financial blessings, miracles etc.). Medals received are meant to be used as tools for doing greater works. In this kingdom, you are not an owner but a steward, and a steward must be accountable (there is nothing you have that was first not given, as a trust, so anyone claiming ownership is a rebel).

There is a price for every prize/medal. All things are yours if you are willing to pay the price. Talking about the price for ‘anointing’, Kathryn Kuhlman during the Full Gospel Business Men International Fellowship Conference says “it cost everything”. What are you willing to sacrifice for the kind of medal you desire?

Many people desire, pray and work for medals, which is good. But often times than not, when they receive it, they camp there and build a life and philosophy around it. Over time, it becomes a ceiling over them (religiosity). This arrival mentality must be done away with in order to ever attain your full capacity. There is more to do, more to know, more to have; there is always more in God we are yet to access. From glory to glory. It is a journey, and the destination is at the feet of Jesus. Don’t settle/die where you are.

Your last medal shouldn’t be your last medal, work for your next medal. Note: your last medal can pose a hindrance to receiving your next medal. Appreciate God for every medal, but empty and prepare yourself for the next encounter, next assignment, next , next instruction, the next level; until you look like Jesus in every wise.

Decision: I won’t stop, until I look just like Jesus.

Hello God!
Hello God!!
are you out there?
Can you hear me?

I am between the devil
and the deep blue see.
Somehow, your existence
is becoming oblivious to me.

Is my life a story book for children
that has lessons and warnings in them?
It is said that you are timeless.
Could it be that you are busy
writing and reading this novel
to Baby Jesus with lessons on the importance
of His coming.

Life is no bed of roses,
the torns now are my world
can you hear me or should
I keep on imagining.

I know you said in your word
that you are not deaf to our cry
but how do I know that?

I know you answer in three ways:
Yes, no and wait.
But this waiting seems difficult God.

Sometimes it pushes me into thinking you are silent
and into having the most foolish thoughts
Have mercy and forgive me God

“We all are special in a unique way.  Our beauty is in our individuality.”

We have different experiences, physic and perceptions that makes us who we are.

From our last article, (please if you’ve not read it, I strongly advice you should. And you’ll thank heavens you did…lol) We talked about story telling and why you should share your story. We also established that life is a story waiting to be told and that our experiences are not severable from our lives which in turn, gives us a sense of purpose and destiny.

Today is actually a beautiful day and we will share an inspiring and mind blowing story of a woman who is using her story to deliver as many from a life of low self esteem and the feeling of not good enough particularly as an Albino. And showing us a world of limitless possibilities with no limits nor barrier whatsoever.

Connie Chiu, is an amazing model, Jazz artist and a fashion designer. She hails from Hong Kong and grew up in Sweden. Despite being a person with Albinism, she managed to defy all odds and chase her dream.

Her career started when she was around 21 years of age and her sister took a picture of her and send it over to a designer, who in turn contacted her and her career took root. Over the world right now, she is a person who motivates and encourage other persons with Albinism.

As a child she struggled, wondering if she has a role model and what the world out there really will treat her until her big sisters came home and told her this: “LITTLE SISTER! GUESS WHO WE SAW ON OUR WAY HOME FROM SCHOOL TODAY?!” they where still in their school uniforms and had this aura of happiness Beaming from their faces. Connie thought they probably saw a Big movie start or a famous musician. She was surprised when the told her they saw a woman like her. One beaming with this confidence about who she is and one dazzling with beauty. Their excitement, was one that shows you how beautiful you can be.

Connie says that after that time, she realized she had a role model and she needed to be a model for others. She took it upon herself not to give up and to keep fighting. Connie has conquered the world and believes everyone can.

These are some of her words “For many years I thought that I had no role model. But now when I recall this moment in my childhood, it probably had a bigger impact on me than I ever realized. From my sisters’ reactions I got the impression that this Chinese woman with albinism that they happened to see was attractive, confident and independent.”

We all might not be living with Albinism, but we have different things that seem like challenges to us: being orphans, having a single parent, drug addiction, a teen mother and a host of other things. We must however believe in ourselves to change our narrative. Let our stories be told in the far away lands.
